The Caruthersville Public Library is a city library and free to the residents of Caruthersville. The library houses over 22,000 books and periodicals. Anyone living outside the city limits of Caruthersville is charged a $20.00 out-of-town fee. Books are checked out for two weeks with a .05 a day charge for any book returned late. Videos are checked out for two days with a late return charge of .50 a day. Magazines are checked out for three days with a late charge of .05 a day. Genealogy books and Reference books are not checked out. We also charge for faxes, copies, and computer printing. We have the Baxter Southern Auditorium with a stage for plays, programs, or meetings. There is a large screen and projector for showing movies or presenting a power point program. The auditorium has 104 seats and is available for use by the public. We also have two meeting rooms, a children's room, a genealogy room and the adult section which contains two computer carrels with two card catalogs and ten patron computers with free internet access. Our hours are Monday from 9:30am to 6:30pm, Tuesday through Friday from 9:30am to 5:30pm, and Saturday from 9:30am to 1:30pm.
The Pemiscot County Historical Society is housed in the public library. Their hours are Monday & Tuesday from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. If you need information e-mail them at pchs5@hotmail.com and they will get back to you.
